What are the different types of excavators?

Backhoe loaders as well as mini and crawler excavators are just some of the different types of excavators for sale on Tradus. Diggers and hydraulics have many uses and are invaluable on construction projects where they churn, lift and remove soil so that the ground surface can be equalized to be made ready for construction. Excavators typically comprise an undercarriage, a cabin, a digging arm and a boom swing and usually feature tracks.

Mini excavators

Small jobs such as digging, trenching or loading a truck are effortless with mini diggers. These compact excavators are well-suited to small workspaces and are often used for forestry work. A flexible arm makes it easy to dig and the cabin can rotate, giving all-round visibility. Choose from popular brands such as Kubota, Yanmar, JCB, Caterpillar and Hitachi.

Crawler excavators

A crawler excavator can dig trenches, grade, or move earth and large objects. Their tracks mean they can be used on all kinds of uneven or loose surfaces. Crawler attachments can include augers, diggers, and breakers, which make light work of tasks such as boring, ripping, crushing, cutting and lifting. Crawlers can dig, pick and transport materials as they move forward. Tradus marketplace offers many types and sizes of crawler excavators by brands including Caterpillar, Hitachi, Komatsu, Volvo and Doosan.

Backhoe loaders

Backhoe loaders are tractor-like, with a bucket at the front and a backhoe at the rear. These versatile loaders are commonly used on small construction projects such as house building, excavation or for repairing roads. Tiltrotators can be fitted that allow the bucket a 360-degree rotation with +/- 45-degree tilting. JCB, Caterpillar, Hydrema, New Holland and Case are popular brands with Rototilt, Engcon and Steelwrist the main tiltrotator manufacturers.
