Harvesters

For certain crops, the inedible parts need to be separated from the edible parts. Grain for example; the tips of the plant can be used, the rest is chaff and can be rejected. Modern machines can harvest quickly, fully, and efficiently, by simply driving the machine over the field. The grain gets cut, threshed, and cleaned using the specially designed mechanical tools. The chaff disappears back onto the land through the rear of the combine harvester, while the usable seeds end up in a cabin which can in turn be emptied into containers.

Types of harvesters

There are many different types of harvesters around. For grain on the land, a combine harvester can be used, while crops like potatoes, beets, and onions are more efficiently harvested by a puller. A chipper can harvest silage corn, grass, rapeseed straw, and alfalfa. The general approach is for the harvester to pull the crops out of the soil, then to remove or leave any leaves, and then transport it into trucks or containers via conveyors. Generally, the harvest is then inspected by workers before going into final storage for transport.
