Flatbed open

The open flatbed is a smart and simple solution for the transport of goods. It is one of the most popular trucks used for freight shippings. The ‘open’ refers to the top. They are commonly used to move machines and material, unlike the flatbed tarp. In most cases, the open flatbed has closed sides so that whatever is inside will not be moved during the transport. An advantage of the open flatbed is the easy and efficient loading and unloading of the truck: there is no need to tie or loosen a tarpaulin since the bed is directly accessible after letting down the back board and the sides. A forklift is commonly used for loading and unloading. With unsteady weather conditions, it is advised to use a box truck or a flatbed tarp.

Steel and aluminium

Open flatbeds are often used to transport building material, but also flat steel, coiled steel, channel steel, rebar and lumber. Most open flatbeds are made from steel or aluminum or from a steel/aluminum combination. The weight of the open flatbed differs: they go from a lightweight 3,500 kg to a massive 32,000 kg.

Large amount of listings

The open flatbed truck is in the top ten of most listed trucks for transport on Tradus. Among the available brands are Mercedes-Benz, Iveco, MAN, Volvo, DAF, Renault, Scania, Volkswagen, Ford, Unimog, Fiat, Nissan and Hyundai. New open flatbed trucks are listed every day.
